September Session

I remember when I learned that mountains are slowly eroding, it filled me with awe, these majestic solid symbols are slowly particle by particle made small. The image of wind against a bare face of a mountain peak. That wind carries particles of that peak across the globe, dropping them on farmland, a river, a thick forest. Do you remember in 2022 when an unusually active season brought plums of Sahara dust to parts of Europe and the East Coast of the United States. A Saharan haze hung over cities, for many this was the first time we knew that dust from desert sands routinely circles the globe. Let your imagination linger here for a moment, take in our global landscape, what do you see? I notice it tells the story of how intimately interconnected we are. It erodes the idea that we can create boundaries to keep out, and that there is nothing is so solid that it can’t be changed over time.

In the same way that dessert sands, rich mountain run off, deep forest nutrients enrich our natural landscape, so too can core culture concepts. This month we will explore specific enriching core cultural concepts that can expand and enrich our own worldviews. I will weave these into a psychological framework with practice that can offer tangible support for your day to day navigation. Learning from cultures not our own can offer rich insight. These concepts are like generational treasure passed down through the ages because they have stood the test of time. Much attention is given the generational legacy of personal and collective trauma. However, we also have gifts, the generational legacy of strengths and resources we are meant to know and use. There is an old idea in herbalism that where there is poison the antidote will be growing nearby. The concepts we will explore this month are the generational treasures, the antidotes, the enriching nutrients for our current collective experiences.

The light within me salutes the light within you creative session - Sunday 14th 4 pm to 6pm

In-person only with live stream, free community event

At Evergarden this month we are introducing monthly creative sessions at our in-person art studio office. The creative session is an opportunity to engage with creativity, expression and gathering together with the intention to hold what is difficulties in our collective experiences. September's will be on Sunday 14th from 4pm to 6pm, this session is a free community event open our Evergarden community members and the public. The event is in-person at Evergarden with a live stream for those who are not local but would like to participate. In this month’s session we will gather with the intention of seeing and sending the light in and to the dark places.

Creativity and gathering collectively around an intention is a healing balm. Dr. Tara Swart a British psychiatrist describe brilliantly in detail the mechanism for why creativity is essential, especially for devastating grief. There is a shared neurology between creative states and dysregulated states, when we engage what hurts the most, what pushes us far outside of our regulated zone via creative outlets we create a robust container that we can than channel, to support that out of control and pulled under experience. Gathering together is another essential for times of collective upheaval. There is a growing body of real data demonstrating an actual tangible effect of coming together around a focused intention.. What once was fringe vibrational energy talk is now finding actual scientific reinforcement. I hope you will join!
