Mental Health Matters, how we listen is a multi-model art experience, a curated moment to pause, embody the act of listening, and explore the quality of our listening. The event on May 13 & 14th featured local artists, art organizations, CCHS students, patients, and people affected by mental health challenges. These art pieces are from all mediums of expressive arts: graphic, music, visual, and writing. Each piece is a unique expression of a mental health journey.
Welcome to Mental Health Matters, how we listen
We are so glad you are here
You are about to embark on a journey through mental health via the creative arts
Each art piece is a unique expression of a personal journey
We are all on this journey
Together
and alone
Be with each image
Listen to what they say
Practice the art form that is listening
Gentle breath in, feel your breath
Gentle breath out, feel your breath
As you journey through
Be with each piece
Listen
Breathe
What thoughts do you notice?
What emotions do you feel?
What is your body sensing?

This exhibit is intended to amplify the voice via creative expression of the mental-health journey. Each art piece is a unique expression of a personal experience.
The exhibit is also intended to raise awareness and funding for our work bringing quality mental-health-care to patients who have serious and complex case presentations who are not able to afford the specialized, experienced, quality of care they need. Often the people who 'fail' out of care, simply have not been able to access the specialization required. You can learn more about these efforts here. And you can give towards our campaign as a one-time donation here.
At Evergarden we believe healing happens in community, this exhibit is intended to build community connection, we believe now more than it is necessary to deepen these connections in real and profound ways. We are so glad to have had so many from our local community come out to join us! At Evergarden we are building community through our Evergarden Community. You may be familiar with the zen wisdom saying no mud, no lotus I believe we are the roots deep in the mud, working together in our own little sphere to cleanse and clear, so that our collective space is a beautiful lotus on a clear pond. Evergarden Community is a space that provides accessible sessions to do that work together.
